I am pleased to announce the addition of my new co-authors for Startup Review, Jay Parkhill and Rob Finn. I will continue to author case studies on Startup Review, but will now be splitting the workload with Jay and Rob. From time to time, you may also see case studies being contributed by guest authors.
I’d like to thank Jay and Rob, both of whom are not being paid, for helping to keep up the pace of case study creation on Startup Review. With my new start-up, I was struggling to keep up on my own. Jay has authored this week’s case study on Jumpcut, and previously authored Grouper. Rob will be publishing case studies on LoopNet and HotJobs soon. Please help me welcome them as your new authors!

This week I have published a blog post as a guest author on Mashable. The title of the blog post is “How to Have an Overnight Internet Success Story” and it discusses some of the common themes I have seen across Startup Review case studies for how to gain broad consumer adoption of a consumer Internet service. The post details what types of services are ideal candidates to leverage viral distribution or natural search. Please check out the full post here.
After you have read the post, I would love to know whether you have an interest in reading more such analyses here on Startup Review, in addition to the weekly case studies. If you have any thoughts on potential topics you’d like covered, please leave a comment below. Or if you think we should just stick with the weekly case studies, make your opinion heard.
Thanks,
Nisan

I am pleased to announce that after 2.5 great years of working at Sierra Ventures, I have decided to leave Sierra to found an Internet company. While working at Sierra was a great learning experience for me, it was always my goal to start a company one day – and that day has come! This is a very exciting time for me personally, and I will share more details about my company on a separate blog in the coming months. In the interim, I am looking to round out the founding team of my new venture with a talented UI designer possessing coding skills. So if that’s you (or you know somebody great), please contact me (nisan@startup-review.com).
So what does this mean for Startup Review?

I know that you probably can’t keep up with the blogs you are currently subscribed to. That’s why I plan to make only one post per week at Startup Review. That post will be a detailed case study on a successful Internet company. You get the benefit of my interviews and research about the company - about ten hours of work per company - for reading just one lengthy post per week! Please read the long introduction to Startup Review below if you’d like to learn more.

The last time I did anything journalistic was as sports editor of my eighth grade beginning journalism class. I emphasize beginning because I never made the cut to the advanced class. The one thing I do remember was that every story should cover the Who, What, Where, Why, and How. So here are the 4W’s & H on Startup Review:
